Parker is a dynamic speaker and facilitator that engages organizations in new thinking around what it means to be a diversity change-agent and create dynamic organizational change. Parker’s background in the non-profit leadership, conservation, environmental education and outdoor recreation fields spans over 24+ years. Parker has a passion for equity and inclusion in outdoor spaces. Her interest in justice, accessibility, and equity issues developed from her personal experiences facing the unequal representation of people of color in environmental organizations and green spaces. Parker tackles these complex issues by addressing them through head on activism and education. For 9 years Parker has worked with businesses to catalyze action to build culturally diverse and culturally competent organizations that are representative of the populations that they seek to reach and serve. 

Meghan Carr's degrees and career started wildlife conservation, then shifted to educational research, HR measurements, and career and strengths coach. She has worked in scientific, entertainment, community leadership, educational, technical (IT), and logistical organizations and teams. This unusual progression has common topics of resource-limited populations, HR analytics, qualitative and incremental improvements, and capitalizing on natural behaviors.

Tori is currently working in spacetech as a Talent Acquisition Partner. How did the Student Conservation get her to where she is today? A culmination of experience in federal work at the National Park Service, US Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management ultimately leading her her to a non-profit in hiring interns for the Park Service and then a foray into Talent Acquisition all would not have been possible without her first volunteer opportunity in Redding, California as a Timber Sale Prep intern with the SCA. It's what got my foot in the door after graduation, what got me out in the world and out of my hometown. I'm eager to talk more with you about how I connected the dots to where I am today and to hear your story and vision for the future!

Julia Sushelsky is a recruiter at the SCA. She has been with the organization for a little over four years. Julia is passionate about working with members and future members to help them find internship and corps positions that match their interests and future career goals.

Bashira is a farmer, scientist and business owner. To “Zoom Out” is to look at the big picture of sustainability. At Zoom Out Mycology we implement social, environmental, economic and institutional tactics to enhance sustainability progress. We have done a wide array of sustainability projects but the heart of our work involves making, serving and selling herbal mushroom teas. We believe in tea as a conversation starter tool for building a more sustainable society.

Jennifer began her career as a conservation dog handler in 2009 when she met Max, a spicy, quirky Australian blue heeler mix. Max introduced Jennifer to the amazing talents of working alongside detection dogs but more importantly, he showed her the life-altering relationships that those who work alongside our canine counterparts for wildlife conservation initiatives form. Alongside Max, Scooby, Filson, and her other canine colleagues, Jennifer has worked on projects spanning a diversity of environments and species, from hot African savannahs searching for big cats to steamy jungles in Southeast Asia unearthing data on pangolin, and throughout the United States and Canada.

Angie B. Moline, Ph.D. is an ecologist, educator, and visual thinker based in Flagstaff, Arizona. Her professional passion is inspiring and empowering people to take creative risks that result in meaningful change. Angie grew up in Minnesota with a crayon in one hand and a microscope in the other. She catalyzes creative thinking and captures ideas as they arise using live hand-drawn visuals to facilitate strategic planning meetings for corporate, governmental, and non-profit groups. Angie also teaches workshops that share high-tech and low-tech visual tools to help leaders foster creativity, communication, and innovation in their teams. Dr. Moline is the founder of Moline Creative and an adjunct faculty member at Northern Arizona University. She has served as a university-level educator, program innovator, and group facilitator for the past fifteen years. She holds a doctorate in ecology from Colorado State University where she served as a National Science Foundation GK-12 fellow for several years. She also holds a M.S. in Biology and B.S. degrees in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior, and Environmental Engineering. Angie is happiest when she’s sitting near a wilderness stream with her sketchbook and cup of mint tea, but she’s contented most days to hike and doodle near her hand-built adobe home in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Steve is the Community Manager for Public Lands, the new outdoor specialty retail concept from Dick’s Sporting Goods. His career journey began in retail while pursuing a degree in education from Youngstown State University. As an educator, Steve shared in both public and private schools through traditional teaching roles and out-of-school time programs, while spending two summers serving as Crew Leader for The SCA Youth Community Crew in Pittsburgh, PA (14’ and 16’). In his current role Steve supports the growth of the Public Lands brand through the lens of community, while aligning goals with the brand purpose to celebrate and protect public lands for all. The Student Conservation was foundational to the career path that led to unconventional roles supporting conservation and access and equity in the outdoor industry. He has learned to keep opening the next door and explore each opportunity with the enthusiasm and excitement you find on the trail!

Christine Chung grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. She started her SCA journey in summer 2008 as a Bear Management Intern at Inyo National Forest. Over the next decade, she served on six different SCA programs - from working as a Career Discovery Internship Program Intern with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on the East Coast to a native revegetation project in Denali National Park, Alaska. She currently serves as the Events Committee Co-Chair for the SCA Alumni Council. Her SCA projects and work experiences outside of SCA have brought her across the country and around the world. With her B.S. in Environmental Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and global work experiences, her career demonstrates an impressive breadth of work in the fields of animal care, environmental education, public outreach, fire management, and wildlife research. She currently works as a Wildland Firefighter on a helicopter crew for the U.S. Forest Service in Frazier Park, California.

Sanaa Payge, from Arlington, Virgina, is headed into her last year at VT as a senior majoring in Smart and Sustainable Cities (SSC) with a minor in African Studies. Sanaa is now a three time alumna of SCA, as she got her start working on a youth community crew, moving on to a young adult crew post-coronavirus. Most recently, she interned for SCA participating in the first ever integral Alumni Fellowship as the City Strategist Intern.

Daniel (UW-RF '15 BS Biology, CEU '18 MS Envio Sci & Policy) is an ESG Data Specialist with Green2Sustainable, a consulting firm that helps organizations calculate and reduce their Greenhouse Gas emissions. He was in the 2022 Inaugural SCA Fellowship Program as a Climate Action Fellow. Daniel's first SCA program was in 2011 as a Fire Restoration Intern in the Angeles National Forest and later went on to complete 5 other SCA programs in Alaska and other California ecosystems. Daniel's experience with the SCA helped him when working with the US Forest Service, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and US Fish and Wildlife Service.

Kate Hagner oversees operations within the Programs Division of SCA, with lead responsibility for planning, budgeting, evaluation, and cross-divisional projects. Kate led SCA's partnership with its external evaluator, Search Institute, and has been instrumental in evolving the organization's understanding of itself as a youth development program. With more than a decade of experience at SCA, she currently leads efforts focused on incorporating social and emotional development into SCA’s organizational identity, programming, and overall strategic direction. An alum of City Year and bearer of a Master’s in fiction writing, Kate’s background also includes experience working as a librarian, managing afterschool and service programs for youth, and teaching creative writing.
